Oldsmobile Cars for Sale
1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 Ransom E. Olds founded the Oldsmobile automobile in 1897. The Oldsmobile was produced for around for 107 years and was the longest lasting of all the automotive models.

Oldsmobile was also the first car to be mass-produced. Unfortunately in 1901 a fire destroyed the factory and the only car to survive was the Curved Dash" prototype that was rescued when two workers wheeled it out of the burning building as they were escaping. A new factory was built and the Curved Dash Oldsmobile was continued. In 1905 a hit song called "In My Merry Oldsmobile," helped popularize the car.

General Motors purchased the company in 1908 and in 1910 the most popular of the Oldsmobile's was the "Limited Touring." This car had 42-inch wheels, white tires, goatskin upholstery, clock, speedometer and a full glass windshield. It sold for $4,600, which was more expensive, then an average 3-bedroom house at that time.

By the 1940's the Oldsmobile had a automatic transmission with four speeds and in 1950 had advanced to a Rocket V8 engine and was the fastest car on the market. Its wide-open maw type grille gave a suggestion of jet propulsion.

The 1970 and 80's saw the Olds make its largest sales with 1,066,122 selling in 1985. The popular design and positive reviews helped make the Oldsmobile soar to the top and became the United States top-selling car in 1976. Unfortunately in the 1990's car sales tanked in part because of the competition of Pontiac and Buick and in December of 2000 Oldsmobile was phased out.

However these cars have become collector's items and this page is one of the best places to find them. You will find 1947, 1950, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1965 and more year models of the Oldsmobile. Plus Oldsmobile 442, 455, 88, Alero, Aurora, Bravada, Cutlass, Intrigue, Silhouette, Starfire, Toronado, besides parts, service manuals and products.
