If so this is a good place to start. Oregon is a beautiful state and has many types of climates. West of the Cascades the weather is mild and doesn't get the really cold temperatures that you will find in the northeastern states. While east of the Cascades the temperatures are colder and the climate drier.

The advantages of living on the western side of Oregon are the mild weather conditions and beautiful countryside. Property values are down making it even easier to move there. Fruit trees and grapes of many varieties can be grown making this a good place to live off the land and buy a nice hideaway to prepare for the upcoming disasters that may be coming.

suitable raingear and the rest of the benefits outweigh any rain. Another downside is forest fire. The last part of summer is when the danger is highest, so precautions need to be taken to keep the underbrush and trees far enough away from your home if you live out in the country. A metal roof would also be beneficial.

The upside to living on the eastern side of the Cascades is the sunshine. There is a saying in Klamath Falls that you can see sun 364 days out of the year. The weather is colder and drier but there are many beautiful places with large pine trees and green forest where you can make a beautiful home. Homes and land are really inexpensive on this side especially around Klamath Falls. If you dream of remote then you can buy something far out and use solar power as your main power supply. The down side is that the temperatures are colder. Also there is a forest fire danger during the dry summer months and crops are hard to grow. Precautions need to be taken if you live out in the country against fire and greenhouses or ground cover is needed for your gardens. Plastic covers for your fruit trees during flowing seasoning are necessary to produce much of anything except for potatoes. These are challenges but they can be overcome with planning and invention.
